Montgomery Fair Adopts Mandatory Lion Branding

CONROE, TX – Get ready for a unified and vibrant experience at this year’s Montgomery County Fair and Rodeo. Fair officials have announced a new mandatory “friendly lion” theme for every concession stand, aiming to create a visually cohesive and festive atmosphere across the fairgrounds from April 12th to April 21st, 2024.

The decision stems from the lion being the long-standing official mascot of the Montgomery County Fair Association (MCFA). “Our friendly lion has been a beloved symbol of the MCFA for decades, representing strength, community, and the spirit of fun,” said Sarah Jenkins, MCFA President. “This year, we wanted to truly embrace that identity and make it visibly present in every corner of the fair, starting with our fantastic food and drink vendors.”

Concessionaires are now required to integrate the friendly feline motif into their booth decorations. This could range from banners and signs featuring the lion’s face to painted cutouts, themed serving accessories, or even staff apparel. The goal is a seamless visual experience, transforming the fairgrounds into a vibrant celebration of its iconic symbol.

“We’re not asking for elaborate overhauls, but thoughtful and creative incorporation,” explained Mark Thompson, Fair Manager. “Think playful lion paws on a menu board, a friendly lion peeking from behind a hot dog stand, or lion-themed colors. We’ve provided clear guidelines and some inspiration, and we’re genuinely excited to see the ingenuity our vendors bring to the table.”

While the mandate presents a new creative challenge for vendors, many are reportedly embracing the initiative. “It’s a fun way to stand out and connect with the fair’s overall spirit,” commented Maria Sanchez, owner of ‘Maria’s Tacos & More,’ a long-time fair vendor. “We’re already planning to have our lion wearing a mini sombrero!”

For fair-goers, the unified branding promises a more immersive and memorable visit. “Imagine walking through the midway and seeing a consistent, cheerful theme everywhere you look,” Jenkins added. “It enhances the sense of place, creates wonderful photo opportunities for families, and truly makes you feel like you’re part of the MCFA family and its rich tradition.”

The Montgomery County Fair and Rodeo, a cherished annual tradition, attracts thousands of visitors with its unique blend of agricultural exhibits, thrilling rodeo events, live entertainment, carnival rides, and a vast array of food options.
