Montgomery Fair Wins TAFE Best Overall Event

**Montgomery County Fair Honored as Texas’ ‘Best Overall Event’ for Second Time in Five Years**

CONROE, TX – The Montgomery County Fair has once again secured the prestigious “Best Overall Event” award from the Texas Association of Fairs and Events (TAFE), a significant recognition announced during TAFE’s annual convention held January 4th through the 7th, 2024, in Frisco, Texas. This marks the second time the Montgomery County Fair has earned this top honor, previously winning in 2019, underscoring its consistent excellence and deep community roots.

The award specifically celebrated the 2023 Montgomery County Fair, an annual spectacle that captivated attendees from March 24th to April 2nd at the MCFA Fairgrounds in Conroe. The win positions the Montgomery County Fair as a leader among hundreds of fairs and events across the state, acknowledging its comprehensive success in fair management and community engagement.

Cody N. Bartlett, General Manager of the Montgomery County Fair Association (MCFA), expressed immense pride in the achievement. “This recognition from our peers at TAFE is a powerful testament to the unwavering dedication of our staff, the incredible commitment of over 2,000 volunteers, and the passionate support of our entire community,” Bartlett stated. “It truly highlights our commitment to not just putting on an event, but to fostering excellence in fair management and deep, meaningful community involvement.”

TAFE lauded the Montgomery County Fair for its exceptional blend of offerings, citing its wide array of educational programs, highly competitive livestock shows that are pivotal for youth development, and diverse live entertainment that appeals to all ages. Beyond the attractions, TAFE specifically noted the massive volunteer effort, which clocked in thousands of hours, and the substantial economic boost the fair provides, estimated to generate over $15 million annually for the local Montgomery County economy. This economic impact supports local businesses, creates temporary jobs, and circulates money within the community.

“The Montgomery County Fair exemplifies what a community event should be,” commented Sarah Jenkins, President of the MCFA Board of Directors. “It’s a place where agricultural traditions are honored, youth are empowered, and families make lasting memories. This award is a collective victory for every person who contributes their time, talent, and resources to make our fair thrive.”

For generations, the Montgomery County Fair has served as a cornerstone event for the region, deeply rooted in agricultural heritage and committed to youth education. Funds raised through various events, including the popular livestock auctions, directly benefit local students through scholarships and opportunities in agricultural sciences and vocational trades.

Looking ahead, the Montgomery County Fair Association is already planning for an even more impactful 2024 event, building on the momentum of this prestigious award. The 2024 Montgomery County Fair is scheduled to run from March 22nd to March 31st at the MCFA Fairgrounds in Conroe.
