**New Caney Man Charged with Murder in Fatal Weekend Shooting; Held on $150,000 Bond**

**NEW CANEY, TX – June 17, 2024** – A New Caney man is facing a murder charge after he allegedly shot and killed another man late Friday night following an argument over a woman. The incident, which occurred at a residence in the 19200 block of Country East Boulevard, resulted in the death of 36-year-old Jose Daniel Rosas.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) confirmed that deputies were dispatched to the scene around 11:30 p.m. on Friday, June 14th, in response to reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, authorities located Rosas, who was pronounced deceased at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds.

The MCSO Major Crimes Unit quickly took charge of the investigation. Detectives determined that the fatal shooting stemmed from a dispute between the suspect, 41-year-old Mark Alan White, and Rosas regarding a woman.

White was identified as the alleged shooter and was taken into custody early Saturday morning, June 15th. He was subsequently booked into the Montgomery County Jail on a charge of Murder.

Later that Saturday, White appeared before Judge Wayne Mack, who set his bond at $150,000. As of Monday, June 17th, White remains incarcerated at the Montgomery County Jail.

In addition to the ongoing criminal investigation, Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace James Metts has ordered an autopsy for Rosas to ascertain the official cause and manner of death. The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has not released further details regarding the nature of the relationship between White and Rosas, or the woman involved, citing the ongoing investigation.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
