**Conroe Parolee with Prior Child Sex Crime Conviction Arrested on New Indecency Charges**

CONROE, TX – A Conroe man, already on parole for a previous child sexual assault conviction, has been arrested and charged with new felony offenses of indecency with a child by exposure. Michael Shane Pruett, 47, was taken into custody by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office following an investigation into an incident that allegedly occurred at his residence.

The new charges stem from an incident reported on February 1, 2022, at Pruett’s home on the 800 block of East Powell Street in Conroe. According to authorities, the victim in this new case is a child under the age of 15, confirmed by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office to be Pruett’s grandchild.

Pruett’s arrest on May 4, 2022, at his Conroe residence marks his return to the legal system following a history of similar offenses. He was previously convicted on February 11, 2005, for aggravated sexual assault of a child in Montgomery County, for which he was sentenced to 20 years in state prison. After serving a portion of his sentence, Pruett was released on parole on October 14, 2020. The current allegations emerged just over a year after his parole release.

Following his arrest, Judge Wayne Mack set Pruett’s bond at $75,000. He remains in custody, awaiting trial in the 435th District Court, where Judge Patty Maginnis has been appointed to oversee the case.

In addition to the criminal investigation, Child Protective Services (CPS) has reportedly intervened to ensure the safety and well-being of the children involved. Law enforcement officials emphasize the serious nature of these allegations, particularly involving a parolee with a prior conviction for crimes against children.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office continues its commitment to investigating and prosecuting crimes against children. Anyone with information regarding child abuse or neglect is urged to contact local law enforcement or Child Protective Services.
