Splendora HS Lockdown: No Weapon Found

SPLENDORA, TX – Splendora High School was placed on a more than two-hour lockdown Monday morning following a credible report of a potential weapon on campus, triggering a significant multi-agency law enforcement response. While no weapon was ultimately found and no injuries were reported, two male juveniles were detained for questioning and now face potential charges related to the incident.

The serious situation unfolded shortly after 9 a.m. on Monday, November 13th, when a student reported overhearing another student making threats and mentioning the presence of a weapon. This immediate and credible report prompted school officials to initiate lockdown procedures and alert authorities.

A swift and comprehensive response was launched, with officers from the Splendora Police Department converging on the campus. They were quickly joined by assisting units from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office, leading a systematic and thorough search of the high school premises to ensure the safety of all students and staff.

During the extensive sweep, law enforcement personnel located two male juveniles who were subsequently detained for questioning regarding the reported threats. Following a detailed search of the entire campus, authorities confirmed that no weapons were found, and the initial threat reported by the student was not substantiated.

The lockdown, which kept students and staff in a heightened state of alert, remained in effect for over two hours before being safely lifted around 11:30 a.m. With the campus declared secure, students and staff were able to resume their normal school day, albeit after a tense and disruptive morning.

Splendora Independent School District officials later commended the student who reported the threat, emphasizing the importance of “see something, say something” in maintaining school safety. They also praised the rapid and coordinated response from local law enforcement agencies, which ensured the situation was handled efficiently and effectively without incident.

Despite no weapon being found and no injuries occurring, the two juveniles detained are now facing potential charges, including disorderly conduct and disruption of a school. These charges reflect the significant law enforcement resources and the substantial disruption to the educational environment necessitated by the reported threats.

The incident underscores the ongoing vigilance required in school safety and the serious repercussions for threats made on campus, regardless of whether a weapon is ultimately present. The school district has stated it will continue to work closely with law enforcement regarding any further actions. For updates, the community is encouraged to monitor official communications from the Splendora Independent School District and the Splendora Police Department.
