The Players Theatre Company Unleashes “Carrie: The Musical” This October in Conroe

The Players Theatre Company is set to bring Stephen King’s chilling tale to life with “Carrie: The Musical,” opening October 13th at the historic Owen Theatre in downtown Conroe. This intense production promises a gripping theatrical experience for local audiences through October 29th.

Based on King’s iconic novel, “Carrie: The Musical” explores themes of isolation, bullying, and the devastating consequences of unchecked power. Performances will take place at the Owen Theatre, located at 225 Metcalf Street in downtown Conroe.

The production schedule includes evening performances on Thursdays, October 19th and 26th, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday shows are scheduled for 8 p.m. on October 13th, 14th, 20th, 21st, 27th, and 28th. Sunday matinees will be held at 2 p.m. on October 15th, 22nd, and the final performance on October 29th.

Under the direction of Melva Morrison, with music direction by Mary Yost and choreography by Amy Sowers, the cast features Hannah Dunham in the titular role of Carrie White, the isolated teenager with burgeoning telekinetic powers. Leanna Medley portrays her devout and repressive mother, Margaret White. The ensemble includes Amy Sowers as Miss Gardner, Adam Isbell as Tommy Ross, Isabel Sowers as Sue Snell, Mia Lopez as Chris Hargensen, and Mason James as Billy Nolan.

Due to its mature themes, including intense bullying, religious fanaticism, and violence culminating in the infamous senior prom scene, “Carrie: The Musical” is recommended for mature audiences.
