Montgomery County Giving Circle Donates $110,000 to Dementia Non-Profit, Pushing Facility Goal Closer
Triumphant, a Montgomery County women's giving circle, presented Alley’s The DA with its largest single donation ever, a check for $110,000, on Friday, May 17, 2024. This significant contribution brings the local dementia awareness and caregiver support non-profit substantially closer to its goal of acquiring a permanent facility.
The generous gift from Triumphant, an organization of local women who pool resources quarterly to support a chosen charity, marks a major milestone for Alley's The DA. Founded by Tammy Young, the non-profit is dedicated to providing crucial support for individuals living with dementia and their caregivers within the community.
Alley's The DA is actively fundraising to purchase a specific building located at 304 N. Main Street in Conroe. The asking price for this property is $650,000. With Triumphant's recent contribution, Alley's The DA has now raised over $500,000 towards this ambitious goal, signaling strong community backing for their mission. Currently, the organization operates out of the Conroe Church of Christ.
Triumphant, co-founded by Nelda Blair and Carol Maxwell approximately 20 years ago, exemplifies the power of collective philanthropy in Montgomery County. Members gather to select a deserving local charity, and this quarter, Alley's The DA was the chosen recipient, receiving a donation that will make a profound impact on its future.
A dedicated facility will allow Alley's The DA to significantly expand its vital services. Plans include offering more extensive respite care and day programs for individuals living with dementia, along with essential support groups and educational resources for their caregivers. The organization also aims to address the growing need for services catering to younger people affected by dementia. Tammy Young established Alley's The DA in loving memory of her mother, Alice "Alley" Wilson, who passed away in 2020 after her journey with dementia. The non-profit anticipates opening the doors to its new Conroe facility by Fall 2024, promising a transformative impact on many families in Montgomery County.
