Andrew Wylie Arrested for Burglary, Drugs

CONROE, Texas – A 35-year-old Conroe man is behind bars following an investigation into a residential burglary that was cracked by clear surveillance footage and the local sheriff office's familiarity with the suspect.
Andrew John Wylie was taken into custody on February 20, 2024, after deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff Office identified him as the primary suspect in a home break-in.
The incident originated earlier this month when a resident living near the 11000 block of FM 1484 reported that their home had been burglarized. While the investigation was ongoing, the victim provided investigators with footage from a Ring doorbell camera. According to reports from the Montgomery County Sheriff Office, deputies who reviewed the high-definition video were able to immediately identify Wylie based on prior interactions with local law enforcement.
Patrol deputies located Wylie walking in the vicinity of the crime scene shortly after reviewing the surveillance evidence. Upon taking him into custody, officers conducted a search and discovered the suspect was in possession of methamphetamine and associated drug paraphernalia.
Wylie was transported to the Montgomery County Jail, where he is currently being held on multiple charges. His bond has been set at $20,000 for the charge of burglary of a habitation, a second-degree felony in Texas. He faces additional bonds related to the possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia charges.
The Montgomery County Sheriff Office continues to highlight the effectiveness of home security technology in assisting rural and suburban investigations. Residents are encouraged to register their security cameras with the department through their online portal at mctxsheriff.org to help deputies identify suspects more quickly during active investigations.
As of Tuesday, Wylie remained in custody at the Montgomery County Jail. Public records indicate that he is awaiting a court appearance to address the pending felony and misdemeanor counts. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are reviewing whether the suspect may be linked to other similar reports in the FM 1484 corridor.
