ATC Ownership Transition: People, Quality, Relationships

American Truss Components (ATC) was acquired by Michael Allen (CEO) and Mark Reum (VP Sales).
DICKINSON — American Truss Components (ATC), a cornerstone of the regional construction supply chain for two decades, has entered a new era of ownership this month. The Dickinson-based manufacturer, known for providing critical structural support for the Southeast Texas building boom, has been acquired by a new leadership team committed to blending traditional craftsmanship with modern efficiency.
Michael Allen has assumed the roles of majority owner and CEO, while industry veteran Mark Reum has joined the firm as minority owner and Vice President of Sales. The transition marks a changing of the guard for the company, which was founded in 2004 by Mike Wilson. The facility at 1720 FM 517 W remains the company's operational headquarters, serving as a hub for roof and floor truss production for residential and commercial contractors across Galveston, Houston, and the surrounding counties.
The shift in leadership comes at a pivotal time for the construction industry, which has faced significant volatility in supply chains and labor costs over the last several years. Allen, who brings more than 15 years of experience in financial services, startup operations, and corporate mergers, said the company’s success hinges on a "people first" philosophy.
Beyond the boardroom, the transition is already yielding tangible results for the shop floor. Allen noted that the new ownership group has prioritized immediate improvements to the employee experience, including the rollout of enhanced benefits packages, such as comprehensive health insurance, aimed at retaining top-tier talent in a competitive manufacturing market.
We believe that by investing in our people, we are inherently investing in the quality of the product that leaves our facility, Allen said. A motivated team is a precise team, and in structural manufacturing, precision is everything.
On the production front, the company is leaning into technology to keep pace with the high-speed requirements of modern builders. ATC has begun integrating IntelliBuild production software from Alpine, a leader in component manufacturing technology. The software is designed to optimize design-to-production workflows, reducing material waste and ensuring that trusses are manufactured to exact specifications, a critical factor for large-scale commercial developments.
Reum, whose career spans more than 20 years in building materials and high-level sales leadership, is tasked with expanding the company’s footprint. According to Reum, the goal is to deepen relationships with existing clients while aggressively pursuing contracts with local lumberyards and custom home builders who require reliable, just-in-time delivery.
Our regional partners are the lifeblood of the construction industry, Reum said. By leveraging our improved production capacity, we are positioning ATC to be the go-to partner for builders in the Houston-Galveston corridor who cannot afford project delays. We are not just selling trusses; we are providing the skeletal integrity that builders need to complete projects on time and within budget.
The company continues to operate out of its Dickinson facility, maintaining its long-standing presence in the community.
