Child Endangerment, Drugs: Conroe Mother, Son Arrested

CONROE, Texas – A late-night drug raid on a residential street in Conroe has resulted in the arrest of a mother and son, with authorities highlighting the dangerous conditions in which a young child was discovered living.
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office deputies descended on the 15000 block of Country Park Lane at approximately 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 14. The operation was initiated following an anonymous tip regarding persistent and blatant drug activity at the residence.
According to incident reports filed by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, deputies executed search warrants at the property and were immediately met with a strong odor of marijuana upon entry. During the search, investigators discovered quantities of both methamphetamine and marijuana.
Most concerning to responding officers was the accessibility of the narcotics. Investigators noted that the illegal substances were located within arm’s reach of a five-year-old boy who was present in the home at the time of the raid.
The residents, 37-year-old Michael Anthony Meeks and his mother, 60-year-old Paula Faye Meeks, were taken into custody at the scene.
Michael Anthony Meeks faces multiple charges, including felony possession of a controlled substance for the methamphetamine, a misdemeanor charge for marijuana possession, and a felony count of abandoning or endangering a child. Paula Faye Meeks was also booked into the Montgomery County Jail on a felony charge of abandoning or endangering a child.
Both suspects were processed at the Montgomery County Jail, where their respective bonds were set by local magistrates. As of Monday, jail records indicated both remained in custody pending further legal proceedings.
The five-year-old boy was safely removed from the home by deputies and placed into the emergency care of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS).
The case underscores ongoing concerns regarding child endangerment linked to narcotics trafficking in Montgomery County. Under Texas Penal Code Section 22.041, abandoning or endangering a child is classified as a state jail felony, punishable by up to two years in a state jail facility and significant fines.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the extent of the drug activity at the Country Park Lane address. Anyone with additional information regarding this investigation or other illicit activity in the area is encouraged to contact the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office or utilize the Multi-County Crime Stoppers website at mctxcrimestoppers.org to submit anonymous tips.
