CISD Trustees Applaud School Ambassadors

Conroe ISD's School Ambassadors are 80 competitively selected high school students who serve as the district's public face.
CONROE, Texas – The Conroe Independent School District Board of Trustees took a moment during their November 20, 2017, meeting to spotlight a group that serves as the public face of the district: the CISD School Ambassadors.
The program, which consists of approximately 80 high school students selected through a competitive application process, brings together student leaders from every high school in the district. Clad in their signature red vests, these students have become a staple at major district functions, acting as official greeters, tour guides, and event support staff.
Whether assisting at the annual Back to School Extravaganza, helping new staff navigate the Employee Convocation, or acting as hosts at groundbreaking ceremonies and the Superintendent’s Fun Run, the Ambassadors are tasked with welcoming community members and helping the district put its best foot forward.
The initiative has a long-standing history within the district. Since the program’s inception in the 2008-2009 school year, more than 800 students have cycled through the ranks, gaining public speaking and professional networking experience along the way.
Dr. Don Stockton, who served as the CISD Superintendent at the time of the November recognition, praised the group for their maturity and commitment to service. He noted that the Ambassadors play a critical role in shaping the district’s public image and ensuring that stakeholders—from parents to prospective employees—feel a sense of belonging within the Conroe ISD community.
The selection process for the program is designed to identify students who exhibit strong character, communication skills, and a desire to contribute to their school district. By serving as liaisons between the administration and the public, these students often gain first-hand exposure to the logistics of large-scale event management and institutional operations.
The program has continued to serve as a leadership pipeline, encouraging students to take an active role in their civic environment before graduating and heading into post-secondary education or the workforce.
