Double the Merriment: Conroe and Montgomery Launch Christmas Celebrations Simultaneously This Saturday
Conroe/Montgomery, TX – November 29, 2023 – The holiday season officially kicks into high gear this weekend as both Conroe and Montgomery prepare to roll out the red carpet for a full calendar of festive events, promising a month of cheer for residents and visitors alike.
This Saturday, December 2nd, marks a dual celebration with two "Christmas on Main" events, each featuring their own holiday parades stepping off at 1 PM.
In Conroe, Christmas on Main will transform Downtown Conroe into a bustling holiday hub from 11 AM to 4 PM along Main Street. Attendees can look forward to a vibrant Kids Zone, precious opportunities to visit with Santa Claus, and a dynamic lineup of live music. This year's musical talent includes Sawyer Auger, Zach Thomas, Aaron Navarro, and the lively Dueling Pianos with Paul and Mike, ensuring entertainment for all ages. The highlight of the afternoon will undoubtedly be the Conroe Christmas Parade, winding its way through the downtown area starting at 1 PM. The entire event is completely free to attend.
"We're thrilled to transform downtown Conroe into a winter wonderland for our annual Christmas on Main," said Sally Smith, Conroe Parks and Recreation Director. "It's a cherished tradition that brings families together, supports our local businesses, and truly ignites the holiday spirit across our community. With so many free activities, we invite everyone to come down and experience the magic."
Just a short drive away, Historic Downtown Montgomery will host its own festive Christmas on Main Street from 10 AM to 5 PM, also on Saturday, December 2nd. This charming event promises visits with Santa, engaging activities for the kids, a variety of local vendors perfect for holiday shopping, and the joyful sounds of carolers filling the air. Montgomery's own holiday parade is also scheduled to begin at 1 PM, offering a picturesque procession through the historic district. This community celebration is also free to attend.
"Historic Downtown Montgomery offers a unique, charming backdrop for our Christmas on Main Street," commented David Jones, President of the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce. "Our community takes pride in celebrating the season with a blend of tradition and family fun. We're excited to welcome everyone to experience the magic and small-town charm that makes our holiday event so special."
Beyond this weekend's kickoff, Conroe has an extended series of activities planned throughout December:
* Horse-drawn carriage rides will offer a romantic and nostalgic way to experience Downtown Conroe, departing from Founders Plaza on Fridays and Saturdays throughout December (1st-2nd, 8th-9th, 15th-16th). These rides cost $25 per person, and reservations are highly recommended at cityofconroe.org. * Families can capture treasured memories with free photos with Santa in Downtown Conroe on Fridays, December 1st, 8th, and 15th, from 5 PM to 8 PM. * A free outdoor movie night featuring the beloved holiday classic "Elf" is scheduled for December 8th at 7 PM in Downtown Conroe, perfect for a cozy family outing. * Kids can unleash their creativity with free gingerbread decorating on December 16th from 10 AM to Noon in Downtown Conroe. Space is limited to 50 participants, so early registration is encouraged. * Capping off Conroe's extensive calendar, Christmas in the Park will take place on December 16th, from 1 PM to 4 PM, at Carl Barton Jr. Park. This free event promises more Santa visits, exciting games, craft stations, and festive train rides for all to enjoy.
