CONROE — The Conroe City Council has officially appointed longtime municipal official Christopher Bogusz as the city’s interim city administrator, a move intended to provide stability following the departure of former administrator Norman Reynolds Jr.

The appointment, approved by a formal vote during the council’s June 26, 2026, meeting, follows a brief leadership transition period. Reynolds, who served as the city’s top administrator, stepped down from his post on May 31, 2026. The council first vetted the transition during an executive session held on June 12.

Bogusz steps into the interim role with an annual salary of $225,000. While the city continues to navigate this leadership change, officials have not yet established a formal timeline for a nationwide search or the recruitment of a permanent replacement.

Bogusz brings more than a decade of institutional knowledge to the position, having served the City of Conroe in various capacities since 2012. Before his most recent role as assistant city administrator—a position he held since May 2025—Bogusz played a significant role in the city’s infrastructure development. His resume includes a tenure as the director of engineering and a stint as the interim public works director, positions that saw him manage complex utility and capital improvement projects across the rapidly growing Montgomery County seat.

During the June 26 meeting, Councilman Harry Hardman introduced the motion to appoint Bogusz. Mayor Jody Czajkoski lauded the decision, emphasizing that Bogusz’s deep familiarity with the city's internal operations makes him uniquely qualified to lead during this interim period.

He has a vast amount of experience and is very familiar with how the city runs, Mayor Czajkoski said during the meeting. His background allows us to move forward without a learning curve, ensuring our core services remain uninterrupted.

In a statement following the vote, Bogusz expressed his gratitude to the council for their confidence. He reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining the city’s trajectory and addressing the challenges associated with Conroe’s ongoing residential and commercial expansion.

The city administrator serves as the chief operating officer for the municipal government, tasked with implementing policies set by the Mayor and City Council and overseeing the day-to-day administration of city departments. Bogusz’s background in engineering is expected to be a particular asset as the city continues to address infrastructure demands linked to the region's population growth.
