Conroe ISD names 5 new principals, effective July 1

Conroe ISD appointed five new principals, effective July 1, blending internal promotions and external hires. Dr. Ashley Harrison leads Grand Oaks HS, Dr.

CONROE, Texas — The Conroe Independent School District Board of Trustees solidified its leadership team for the upcoming academic year during its regular meeting on Monday, June 2, officially appointing five new principals to oversee campuses across the district.

The appointments, which are set to take effect on July 1, signal a strategic effort by the district to promote internal talent while bringing in fresh perspectives from neighboring regions. According to district officials, the incoming leaders will step into their roles as their predecessors transition into other administrative functions within the Conroe ISD hierarchy.

Leading the list of high-stakes appointments is Dr. Ashley Harrison, who has been named the new principal of Grand Oaks High School. Dr. Harrison is already a familiar face on campus, having served as the school’s Associate Principal. Her internal promotion is expected to provide continuity for the Grizzlies as the school continues to grow its academic and extracurricular programs.

At the elementary level, the district opted for both internal advancement and external recruitment. Dr. Michelle Hitchcock, previously an Assistant Principal at Ride Elementary, will now lead the school as its principal. Similarly, Mrs. Amber Munger moves from her position as Assistant Principal to the top leadership role at Reaves Elementary.

The board also utilized the hiring cycle to welcome new talent to the district. Dr. Christina Miller joins Conroe ISD from Katy ISD, where she most recently served as an Assistant Principal at Patterson Elementary. Dr. Miller will take over as the principal of San Jacinto Elementary.

Rounding out the cohort of new administrators is Mrs. Elizabeth Fagan, who transitions from her role as Assistant Principal at Hauke High School to serve as its principal. Hauke High School, known for its alternative education focus and supportive environment, will look to Fagan’s established rapport with staff to maintain its unique campus culture.

These leadership changes come as Conroe ISD prepares for the 2025-2026 school year, navigating the challenges of one of the fastest-growing school districts in the state. The administration noted that these appointments were finalized after a rigorous selection process intended to align with the district’s long-term goals for student achievement and staff retention.

The district has confirmed that orientation and transition periods for the new principals will commence immediately to ensure that campuses are fully prepared for the start of the fall semester.
