Conroe Truck Crash Snaps Pole, Injures Two

Conroe Truck Crash Snaps Pole, Injures Two

GRANGERLAND, Texas — Two people were hospitalized late Tuesday night following a violent single-vehicle collision in the Grangerland area that brought down utility infrastructure and prompted a rescue operation by local firefighters.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the intersection of Waukegan Way and FM 1485 at approximately 10:45 p.m. on May 21 after reports that a pickup truck had crashed into a power pole. The force of the impact was significant enough to snap the utility pole at its base, leaving live power lines in the immediate vicinity and complicating the initial response.

According to officials at the scene, the truck contained two occupants at the time of the crash. A male passenger was able to exit the vehicle without assistance, but a female occupant remained pinned inside the mangled cab. Firefighters from the Caney Creek Fire Department utilized hydraulic rescue tools, commonly referred to as the jaws of life, to extricate the woman from the wreckage.

Both individuals were transported by ground ambulance to HCA Houston Healthcare Conroe, formerly known as Conroe Regional Medical Center. Authorities confirmed early Wednesday morning that both victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has assumed control of the investigation. While the preliminary cause of the crash remains under evaluation, investigators are looking into whether environmental conditions or speed played a role in the loss of vehicle control.

The incident drew a coordinated response from multiple agencies, including Conroe Tower, which assisted with scene management and traffic control while crews worked to stabilize the downed pole. FM 1485 was temporarily closed to thru-traffic to ensure the safety of emergency personnel and the local power utility company, which was dispatched to address the damaged electrical equipment.

Residents in the area are reminded that the Texas Department of Public Safety encourages drivers to report erratic behavior or potential road hazards by contacting the local DPS communications office. Updates regarding the investigation will be provided as the official crash report is finalized by state troopers.
