Conroe Two-Car Crash Injures One, Causes Traffic Delays
A two-vehicle crash Monday morning at Waukegan Rd & S Loop 336 in Conroe sent at least one person to the hospital and caused significant traffic delays.
CONROE — A two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Waukegan Road and South Loop 336 on Monday morning resulted in emergency transport for at least one individual and significant traffic delays for area commuters.
The Conroe Police Department, Conroe Fire Department, and Montgomery County Hospital District units were dispatched to the scene shortly before 11:00 a.m. on August 28, 2023. Upon arrival, first responders found two vehicles involved in a wreck that blocked access to the busy intersection, a key thoroughfare for local traffic navigating the south side of Conroe.
While the investigation into the exact cause of the crash remains ongoing, authorities confirmed that medical personnel provided immediate assistance at the scene. At least one person involved in the collision was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. As of Monday evening, the identities of those involved and their current medical conditions have not been released by officials.
The wreckage forced officers to partially close the intersection while crews worked to clear the debris and render the area safe. The resulting lane closures led to a ripple effect of traffic congestion, with motorists advised to seek alternate routes throughout the midday hours. Traffic flow returned to normal by early afternoon once the vehicles were towed and the roadway was cleared.
This intersection has been a recurring point of interest for local traffic safety discussions due to the heavy volume of commercial and residential vehicles transitioning between Waukegan Road and the Loop. The Conroe Police Department continues to analyze evidence from the site, including witness statements and potential traffic camera footage, to determine if charges or citations are warranted.
