Houston Man Charged with Child & AI Pornography

Houston Man Charged with Child & AI Pornography

HOUSTON - A 38-year-old Houston man remains in the Montgomery County Jail this week following his arrest on felony charges related to the possession of child sexual abuse material, including imagery created using artificial intelligence.

Hector David Sanchez was taken into custody on Friday, May 17, after authorities executed a search warrant at his residence in the 100 block of W. Tidwell Road in Houston. The arrest marks the culmination of a multi-agency investigation that began in March.

The investigation was spearheaded by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit. According to official reports, the unit launched the probe after receiving a referral from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The center, which operates a nationwide cyber-tip line, alerts law enforcement agencies to illicit content circulating online.

During the execution of the search warrant, investigators from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were assisted by the Precinct 2 Constable’s Office and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.

Sanchez has been formally charged with two felony counts: Possession of Child Pornography and Possession of AI-Generated Child Pornography. While Texas law has long categorized the possession of child sexual abuse material as a serious felony, the inclusion of an AI-generated pornography charge highlights a growing priority for law enforcement agencies across the country. As generative AI tools become more sophisticated, agencies like the FBI and local ICAC task forces have expanded their surveillance efforts to identify synthetic imagery that depicts child exploitation.

Public records indicate that Sanchez is being held on a combined bond of $300,000, with bail set at $150,000 for each of the two charges.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has not released further details regarding the evidence recovered from the residence as the investigation remains active.

Law enforcement officials continue to urge the public to report suspicious online activity. Citizens can report tips regarding child exploitation anonymously through the NCMEC CyberTipline at https://report.cybertip.org/ or by contacting local law enforcement.
