Hwy 242 Motorcycle Crash: Critical Injury, Road Closed

CONROE, Texas – A serious collision involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle brought traffic to a standstill on Highway 242, also known as College Park Drive, late Wednesday afternoon. The crash occurred near the intersection of Green Fawn Drive at approximately 4:45 p.m. on July 15, 2026, triggering an extensive emergency response during the height of the evening commute.

According to preliminary findings released by the Conroe Police Department, a man in his late 30s was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on Highway 242 when he collided with a gray sedan. Investigators believe the sedan was attempting to execute a left-hand turn onto Green Fawn Drive at the time of the impact. The force of the collision ejected the motorcyclist from his bike, leaving him with severe injuries.

First responders from the Montgomery County Hospital District arrived on the scene within minutes. Paramedics administered advanced life support procedures before transporting the victim to Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center. As of Thursday morning, hospital officials reported the man remains in critical but stable condition. The driver of the sedan, who was not identified by authorities, was evaluated by medical personnel at the scene for minor injuries and was released shortly after.

The collision necessitated a prolonged shutdown of the roadway. Conroe police closed all westbound lanes of Highway 242 at Research Forest Drive to allow for accident reconstruction and the removal of debris. Traffic was diverted onto alternate routes, resulting in significant congestion that rippled through the surrounding Conroe and Woodlands area for several hours. The lanes were reopened to the public by approximately 9:00 p.m.

Highway 242 serves as a primary arterial road for the area, connecting commuters from Interstate 45 to the master-planned communities of The Woodlands and Montgomery County. Local traffic safety advocates have long noted the high volume of traffic and the complexity of intersections along this corridor, which experiences frequent bottlenecks during peak hours.

The Conroe Police Department’s Traffic Division is currently leading the investigation. At this time, no citations or charges have been filed, and investigators are working to determine if speed or sightline obstructions contributed to the wreck.

Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who possesses dashcam footage of the intersection at the time of the accident to contact the Conroe Police Department at 936-522-3200. Information can also be submitted anonymously through the Montgomery County Crime Stoppers website at www.montgomerycountycrimestoppers.org.

The investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as they become available.
