Jonathan Baker Arrested on Felony Warrants

PORTER, Texas – A routine patrol stop turned into an arrest this past Tuesday night when a Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputy recognized a suspect by a unique piece of apparel: a pair of SpongeBob SquarePants socks.

Jonathan Michael Baker, 40, was taken into custody at approximately 10 p.m. on February 27 at the Murphy’s Gas Station located at the intersection of Community Drive and FM 1314 in Porter.

Deputy K. Mims was conducting a routine patrol of the area when he spotted Baker’s vehicle parked at the gas station. According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Mims was familiar with Baker from previous law enforcement interactions. As Mims approached, he confirmed the identity of the driver, noting that Baker was wearing distinct SpongeBob SquarePants socks that the deputy had seen the suspect wearing during prior encounters.

Baker was the subject of two active felony warrants issued by Montgomery County authorities. The warrants were for possession of a controlled substance, specifically a Penalty Group 1 substance, and for evading arrest. Under Texas Health and Safety Code, Penalty Group 1 substances typically include opioids, cocaine, methamphetamine, and heroin.

The arrest was completed without incident. Baker was transported to the Montgomery County Jail in Conroe, where he remains in custody awaiting processing and appearances before a judge regarding the outstanding warrants.

Records from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office indicate that Baker has a history of similar charges within the region. The apprehension of Baker is part of ongoing efforts by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office to execute outstanding felony warrants across the county.
