CONROE, Texas – Two men remain in critical condition following a violent boating accident on Lake Conroe this past Saturday afternoon.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the Lake Conroe Park boat ramp area shortly before 1 p.m. on February 24th after reports surfaced of a high-performance vessel crashing into the shoreline. According to witnesses and preliminary reports from law enforcement, the 22-foot deep-V offshore racing boat was traveling at a high rate of speed when it suddenly went airborne, exited the water, and struck the land with significant force.
The impact left both occupants of the vessel with life-threatening injuries. A coordinated emergency response team, including members of the Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constables Office, the North Montgomery County Fire Department, and the Montgomery County Hospital District, arrived on the scene within minutes to provide trauma care. Both victims were stabilized on-site before being transported via ambulance to HCA Houston Healthcare Conroe for emergency surgery and intensive care.
As of Monday morning, authorities have not released the identities of the two men, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation and the need to notify next of kin.
The Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constables Office, which oversees lake patrol and marine safety in the area, is leading the investigation into the incident. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is assisting with the scene analysis. Investigators are currently working to determine if mechanical failure, operator error, or environmental conditions contributed to the crash.
