Montgomery County Draft Mobility Plan Public Input

Montgomery County Draft Mobility Plan Public Input

Montgomery County, TX, facing rapid growth, seeks public input on a 20-year draft mobility plan to address traffic, safety, and connectivity.

CONROE, Texas — As Montgomery County faces unprecedented population growth and increasing strain on its infrastructure, county officials are launching a pivotal public engagement process to shape the region’s transportation future.

The Montgomery County Commissioners Court and the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) have scheduled a series of public meetings to gather community feedback on a new draft mobility plan. This long-range initiative is intended to serve as the roadmap for transportation development over the next two decades.

The first of these sessions is set for Thursday, June 27, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Lone Star College-Montgomery. The meeting will be held in the Building B Recital Hall (Room B102), located at 3200 College Park Drive in Conroe.

The initiative comes at a critical time for the county, which has consistently ranked among the fastest-growing regions in the United States. As suburban expansion pushes further north from Houston, the mobility plan seeks to address the growing challenges of traffic congestion, commuter safety, and the necessity for more efficient connectivity between residential hubs and commercial corridors.

According to MCDOT, the plan focuses on four primary pillars: prioritizing future capital projects, identifying sustainable funding strategies, enhancing existing road infrastructure, and strategically mapping out new road construction. County officials emphasize that the data collected during these meetings will be instrumental in ensuring the final plan reflects the specific needs of local residents.

The planning process is expected to move beyond simple road expansion, potentially incorporating multimodal transit solutions as the county looks to accommodate diverse demographics and evolving commuting patterns.

For those unable to attend the June 27 kickoff, county officials stated that additional public meetings are being organized for late summer and early fall across various precincts to ensure broad geographic representation.

The county is also preparing a digital component to the outreach process. A dedicated website featuring the draft plan and a digital feedback portal is expected to launch in the coming weeks. Residents are encouraged to monitor the official MCDOT social media channels for the site’s live date.

Public participation is being framed as a vital step in the decision-making process. By engaging with the planning phase now, residents have the opportunity to highlight specific bottlenecks or infrastructure gaps that might otherwise be overlooked in high-level projections.

For immediate inquiries, updates on future meeting dates, or to submit preliminary comments, members of the public can contact the Montgomery County Department of Transportation directly at 936-521-8200 or via email at mcdot@mctx.org. Information will also be posted periodically on the official county transportation website at www.mctx.org.
