Mr. Popper's Penguins Musical Opens in Conroe

CONROE – The Players Theatre Company is set to bring a dash of Antarctic charm to downtown Conroe this November as they stage the family-friendly musical Mr. Popper's Penguins at the historic Owen Theatre.
Located at 225 Metcalf St., the Owen Theatre will play host to this adaptation of Richard and Florence Atwater’s classic children’s book. The musical, which features a book and lyrics by Timothy Allen McDonald and a score by George Stiles and Anthony Dreisen, follows the life of Mr. Popper, a small-town painter in the 1930s who dreams of adventure. His quiet existence is upended when a crate from the South Pole arrives, bringing an unexpected guest—and eventually, a houseful of waddling companions.
