WCR Montgomery Awards, Installs New Leadership

Montgomery County WCR closed its club year with an awards luncheon, celebrating member achievements & leadership transition.
CONROE, Texas — The Montgomery County chapter of the Women’s Council of Realtors (WCR) brought its 2023-2024 club year to a close on May 29, hosting a celebratory awards luncheon at the Margaritaville Lake Resort that underscored the group's ongoing commitment to professional development and community investment.
The event, which brought together regional industry leaders and local real estate professionals, focused on both the celebration of past contributions and the strategic transition of leadership for the coming year.
A core pillar of the afternoon was the announcement of the council’s scholarship recipients. Jessica Williams and Monica Hinojosa were each awarded $1,000 scholarships, funds designated to support their academic pursuits in real estate and related sectors. Kim Miller, who led the organization's Scholarship Committee, noted that fostering the next generation of talent is essential to the longevity and health of the real estate market in Montgomery County.
The council also recognized individual excellence among its current membership roster. Janie Wilson was honored as Member of the Year for her extensive volunteerism and contributions to the group’s mission. Melissa Corliss, recognized for her rapid professional impact and engagement, took home the Rising Star award. Additionally, outgoing President Denise Houser bestowed the prestigious President’s Award upon Shari Levy, recognizing her behind-the-scenes efforts and dedication to the chapter’s operational success.
The luncheon served as a formal venue for the swearing-in of the 2025 Board of Directors. Sarah Kelly was tapped to lead the organization as President starting in January, officially inheriting the gavel from Houser, who guided the chapter through a year marked by market volatility and increased member education initiatives.
The installation ceremony carried significant weight, with both WCR State President Jan Wilson and State President-Elect Sherri Barrett in attendance to officiate. Their presence served to highlight the Montgomery County chapter’s influence within the broader Texas real estate landscape.
The Women’s Council of Realtors, a national organization with a history spanning over eight decades, operates as a network of successful realtors who empower women as business leaders. The Montgomery County chapter remains one of the area’s most active professional groups, hosting frequent networking events, legislative updates, and educational workshops throughout the year.
As the chapter enters the next term, the new leadership team plans to focus on navigating the evolving real estate market, increasing community outreach, and continuing their signature mentorship programs.
