Willis FM 1097 Truck Crash Blocks All Lanes

A major multi-vehicle collision involving an 18-wheeler has paralyzed West FM 1097 in Willis Thursday afternoon.

WILLIS, Texas — A major multi-vehicle collision involving an 18-wheeler has paralyzed traffic on West FM 1097 in Willis Thursday afternoon, prompting a massive emergency response and widespread travel delays.

The crash occurred at approximately 12:45 p.m. just west of the Interstate 45 overpass. According to initial reports from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety, the incident involved a commercial semi-truck and at least one passenger vehicle. The force of the impact left both lanes of the thoroughfare completely blocked, effectively cutting off a primary artery for local commuters and residents.

Emergency responders, including the North Montgomery County Fire Department and multiple EMS units, arrived on the scene within minutes of the 911 calls. As of 1:30 p.m., the scene remained highly active. While official confirmation regarding the number of casualties is pending an investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol, sources on the ground have indicated that multiple injuries were reported, with at least one individual potentially requiring transport to a nearby trauma center.

The location of the wreck has created a significant bottleneck for North Montgomery County traffic. With FM 1097 serving as a vital connector for those traveling toward the Lake Conroe area and the expanding residential developments west of Willis, authorities are warning that the closure could last several hours as investigators document the scene and heavy-duty wreckers work to remove the debris and the commercial vehicle.

Motorists traveling through the area are strongly advised to seek alternative routes. Those heading westbound should consider using FM 830 or Highway 105 to bypass the incident. Drivers are urged to exercise extreme caution and maintain patience as emergency crews continue their work.

Texas Department of Public Safety officials have stated that the cause of the collision remains under investigation. Information regarding the identities of those involved will not be released until next-of-kin notifications have been completed.

For real-time updates on road conditions and the reopening of the highway, residents are encouraged to monitor the official TxDOT Drive Texas website at drivetexas.org or follow local traffic reports on social media.

This is a developing story. Check back for further updates as more information becomes available.
