Margaritaville & TPWD Boost Texas Conservation

LAKE CONROE – In an effort to bridge the gap between luxury hospitality and outdoor stewardship, Margaritaville Lake Resort Lake Conroe | Houston has officially entered into a strategic partnership with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD). The collaboration, which commenced on December 1, 2023, is designed to encourage tourism while bolstering support for the state’s vast network of natural resources.
The partnership was formally recognized during the TPWD Commissioner's Meeting on December 7, 2023, where officials highlighted the mutual goal of connecting visitors with the natural landscape of the Lone Star State.
At the heart of the initiative is the launch of the "Adventure Awaits" travel package. Guests who book the package receive a two-night stay at the resort, a $50 resort credit, and two of the agency's recently debuted Texas State Park Passports. These passports, which were officially launched by the state on December 1, provide holders with complimentary one-day entry to any of the more than 80 state parks managed by the TPWD. By serving as an official distribution point for these passports, the resort aims to simplify the process for families looking to explore local flora and fauna.
Silver Ramirez, General Manager of Margaritaville Lake Resort, described the partnership as a natural evolution for the property. He characterized the collaboration as a perfect marriage between the comfort of resort-style recreation and the rugged beauty of Texas’ protected lands.
The agreement extends beyond hospitality sales. Under the terms of the partnership, the resort will serve as a platform for TPWD’s educational programming. The agency plans to provide unique content and interactive sessions at the resort, aimed at teaching guests about local ecosystems, conservation challenges, and the importance of preserving Texas wildlife.
Rodney Franklin, Director of Texas State Parks, noted that the collaboration aligns with the agency’s long-term objective to increase accessibility and public awareness. Franklin stated that by meeting Texans where they are—including at popular vacation destinations—the department can foster a deeper connection between residents and the outdoor opportunities available in their own backyard.
This is not the resort’s first contribution to environmental advocacy. The Lake Conroe property previously gained recognition for its "Save the Sea Turtles" campaign. Through that initiative, the resort successfully raised more than $15,000 for Sea Turtle Inc., an organization dedicated to the rehabilitation and protection of the endangered Kemp’s ridley sea turtle. Resort management stated that this new partnership represents a continuation of that commitment to environmental responsibility.
The "Adventure Awaits" package is currently available for booking through the resort’s website at www.margaritavilleresortlakeconroe.com. Detailed information regarding the Texas State Park system, including maps, wildlife guides, and ongoing conservation initiatives, can be found on the official TPWD website at tpwd.texas.gov. With the addition of the new State Park Passports, the agencies hope to see a significant uptick in park visitation throughout the coming year.
