Missing Willis man's body found, no foul play

Missing Willis man's body found, no foul play

CONROE, Texas — The Conroe Police Department is working to confirm the identity of human remains discovered in a wooded area on the city’s north side Sunday afternoon, a discovery that may bring closure to the family of a missing Willis man.

At approximately 2 p.m. Sunday, officers were dispatched to a heavily wooded tract located just south of League Line Road and immediately adjacent to the Interstate 45 corridor. Upon arrival, responding officers located a body in an advanced state of decomposition.

While the Montgomery County Forensic Services Department is still working to confirm the identity of the deceased through dental records and other forensic methods, investigators stated that the evidence points toward 60-year-old Timothy Wayne Allen. Allen had been the subject of a missing person investigation since he was reported missing from his Willis residence on March 28.

A family member of the missing man was brought to the scene and provided a preliminary identification based on clothing found on the remains.

Detectives spent several hours processing the scene throughout Sunday afternoon, utilizing search teams to scour the surrounding brush for additional evidence. Conroe Police Sergeant Scott Spencer noted that while the investigation remains active, there are no immediate signs of suspicious activity or foul play.

The proximity of the remains to the interstate has led investigators to look at whether the deceased had been traveling or attempting to traverse the area on foot. Foul weather and the dense, rugged nature of the terrain in that specific corridor often complicate recovery efforts, but authorities were able to conduct a thorough sweep of the site on Sunday.

The discovery concludes a weeks-long search for Allen, whose disappearance had been circulated by local law enforcement and community advocacy groups. The Willis Police Department had assisted in the initial investigation, distributing flyers and reaching out to the public for leads shortly after he was last seen in late March.

The body has been transported to the Montgomery County Medical Examiner’s Office in Conroe for an autopsy. That report is expected to provide a definitive cause of death and confirm the identity of the individual.

Conroe Police are urging anyone who may have noticed suspicious activity or vehicles parked near the League Line Road wooded area over the past few weeks to contact the department’s Criminal Investigation Division at 936-522-3200. Updates regarding the case will be provided once the forensic analysis is complete.
