Woodlands Manhunt Nabs Felon

THE WOODLANDS, Texas — A local man with a lengthy criminal history is in custody following a high-speed pursuit and an intensive multi-agency manhunt that shuttered portions of The Woodlands last Friday night, October 28th.
Brian David Hill, 33, of The Woodlands, was apprehended following a frantic chase that spanned major thoroughfares and forced a heavy law enforcement presence into residential and commercial areas near Sawdust Road.
The incident began at approximately 8:45 p.m. when a deputy with the Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office identified a grey Ford F-250 traveling near the intersection of Research Forest Drive and I-45. According to official reports, the deputy ran the truck’s plates and confirmed they had been reported stolen out of Houston.
When the deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop, Hill refused to yield. Instead, he accelerated, leading authorities on a dangerous pursuit that took him northbound on I-45 before he looped back to travel southbound. Hill eventually exited the freeway onto Lake Woodlands Drive, where the chase reached a stalemate.
Near the intersection of Lake Woodlands Drive and Sawdust Road, Hill abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. The abandonment of the truck triggered an immediate, large-scale search effort. A perimeter was quickly established by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), and Precinct 3 units.
During the search, authorities utilized K9 tracking teams and a DPS helicopter, which circled the area using thermal imaging to scan for the suspect in the dark, wooded terrain common to the area. The manhunt, which drew significant attention from residents in the vicinity, lasted less than an hour. Precinct 3 deputies ultimately spotted Hill near the intersection of Sawdust Road and Woodlands Parkway, where he was taken into custody without further incident.
A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a firearm. Because Hill is a convicted felon, this discovery significantly elevated the severity of the charges he now faces.
Court records indicate that Hill is currently being held at the Montgomery County Jail. He faces a comprehensive list of charges, including:
- Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle (a third-degree felony) - Evading Arrest or Detention on Foot (a Class A misdemeanor) - Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon (a third-degree felony) - Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle (a state jail felony) - Theft of License Plates (a Class C misdemeanor)
Hill’s criminal history, which includes prior convictions for theft and other offenses, will likely play a role in the prosecution’s case as the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office prepares for trial.
The Precinct 3 Constable’s Office has used this incident to remind the public of the dangers of high-speed pursuits, noting that the cooperation between local and state agencies was vital in securing the suspect quickly before he could further endanger the public.
Residents who may have dashcam footage of the pursuit on I-45 or the activity near Sawdust Road are encouraged to contact the Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office at 281-364-4211 or provide tips through the Montgomery County Crime Stoppers website at www.montgomerycountycrimestoppers.org.
